Women's Soccer Routs St. Mary's in Regular Season Finale

Former Stevens Point Area Senior High School standouts Margaret Domka and Marie Muhvic each scored two goals in their final home regular season game Saturday as the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point women's soccer team trounced St. Mary's (Minn.) 8-0 at the Pointer Soccer Bowl.

UW-Stevens Point has now won nine straight games by a combined total of 49-2 heading into next week's Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference tournament. The Pointers will host the tournament's eighth seed in the quarterfinals Tuesday at 3 p.m.

UW-Stevens Point opened up a 3-0 halftime lead despite seven first half saves by Cardinals' goalie Colleen O'Hearn. Molly Cady finally broke through at the 20:23 mark before Domka and Muhvic each tallied goals.

Muhvic and Renee DeBroux scored less than two minutes apart in the second half before Domka made it 6-0 with her second goal. Senior Jenny Schmit scored her second career goal and Gretchen Talbot also scored for the Pointers, who are now 15-4 overall.

Senior Abby Rabinovitz played the entire match in goal for her 30th career shutout. Rabinovitz, who ranks third in NCAA Division III goals against average, lowered her season mark to 0.19.

The Pointers outshot the Cardinals 39-7. St. Mary's, which beat the Pointers 4-1 last year, fell to 7-8-1 overall.
